PRODUCT REVIEW: HERE ARE A FEW OF MY FAVOURITE THINGS!

Do you have a list of daily must haves?  You know, routine staples that you can’t or won’t substitute for ANYTHING?  Yup, I feel you and it’s time I did a little review on a few of my mine.  If you follow my social pages you know I rave about many things and will talk about products I love using and these are no different.  They’re just extra special because I use them daily and ssshhhh, sometimes twice a day.  Here goes because sharing is caring!

PPS – I’ve arranged in alphabetical order by brand for the sake of simplicity.

Brand:  Bosman / Product:  Tattgoo

Why:  If you have ink or if you are thinking about getting ink, this is your after-care hands down.  A shoutout to my good friend Lindsay Bosman who makes it from scratch right here in Canada.  I’ve been using her wonderful product for over a year on my old ink and recently on a new piece and it does exactly what it says.  Heals, protects and revives.  In fact, it does more than just that.  I was using throughout this past winter as a moisturizer on my body most days and with ingredients like shea butter, coconut oil, beeswax and vitamin E my skin didn’t have a chance to crack from the dryness, even my feet!  All natural and a little goes a long way.

In this pic I was modeling a sample for a possible new addition to my Esty Shop but my leg (a.k.a. inked leg) popped and by that I mean the colours.  What do you think?  These tatts range from 4 to 12 years old ya’ll.  Holla at me and point you in her direction!

Brand:  Burt’s Bees / Product:  Lip Balm & Lip Butter

Why:  I am a lip balm and lip gloss gal.  Every purse, bathroom in my house, gym bag, coaching bag, in the car and in some jackets/coats is where you’ll find either a Burt’s Bees lip balm or lip butter (and probably other brands too if you look close enough 😊).  The different flavours are great, but they really do moisturize and their results are consistent.  I’ve been in Canada 20 years, and I may have started using them in the first few years and never stopped.  Why this brand?  Responsibly sourced, sustainable, and natural.  The moisture is real folks – and I’ve recently started buying their tinted ones and they do not disappoint.

I purchase mine at my local Shoppers Drug Mart but this product is very accessible in retail and online i.e. Amazon.

Brand:  Medistik / Product:  All

WHAT’S IN YOUR GYM BAG?

Why:  There are so many personal why’s for me, but this is the only topical product you need for muscle and joint aches and pains.  As an athlete I’ve tried many brands and different applications.  All products are easy to apply and don’t get it on your hands which means there is no worry about accidentally getting it into your eyes (yup, talking from experience lol).  These come in spray, stick and roll-on AND you can layer them for maximum effect.  This stuff works.  Period!

In case you are wondering, I don’t always have injuries to apply them daily, but I do use it on areas of my body that may take longer to warm up, and it helps.  For example, going sparring after sitting at my laptop for most of the day requires a thorough head to toe warm up.  I’ll apply the roll on to my shoulders to help loosen them up and to my lower back and hip areas as these are prone to tightness.

Many days I have to go from training to coaching and vice versa.  Sometimes with little time in between to either warm up, cool down and/or change so, I rely on the self-proclaimed #strongone during these moments.  Never fails me!

Brand:  MONAT / Product:  Rejuveniqe™ Oil

Why:  As a mother I’m used to multitasking and I love products that are multipurpose and easy to use as well.  I gravitate towards products I can use on myself as well as my 10-year-old daughter so, it must be mild enough for her skin.  This award winning, plant-based oil checks all the boxes for this busy mama.  Rejuveniqe™ officially has 101 different uses but regulars include weekly scalp oil treatments for myself and Acacia, on hair lengths after washing & diffusing, dry lips and cuticles drink this up, relief on my psoriasis flare ups and a few drops to my face moisturizer during the cold, dry months here in Canada works wonders.  And friends, that’s just the tip of the iceberg!

Brand:  Native / Product:  Deodorant

Why:  They had me at ingredients like coconut oil and shea butter and words like aluminum and talc free.  I experienced blocked pores from aluminum antiperspirant in my late twenties.  It swelled up and hurt so much I thought they were lumps and much more serious.  I went on to search for the right deodorant that would keep me smelling fresh all day long.  Many did not work at all, and others worked until they didn’t so I always had different brands going to waste.  I found Native through a social media ad and decided to try it.  You can purchase directly from their site linked above BUT I have seen the brand in Shoppers Drug Mart locations recently.  Almost 3 years and have never looked back.

I’ve tried pretty much all their scents but I always come back to the coconut-vanilla.

Brand:  Strong Is My Beautiful™ / Products:  ALL

Why:  Because a shameless brand plug is not beneath me.  I believe in my business and my products.  I’m my own cheerleader but more importantly I use and wear the products I sell to tell the tale later.  I mean, if we don’t believe in our own products or ideas well then, how can we expect anyone else to?

An example, the bamboo clothing.  I lived in my hoodie dress through the fall (and I am now again while waiting for warmer weather over here).  When it got colder last fall/winter the tracksuits were my jam.  I used to call it my uniform!  I cannot count how many times I’ve washed them but, no pills and no colour fade.

After sparring or heavy training sessions my favourite shower steamer is the lemon or eucalyptus-mint scent.  Relaxing and reviving to the muscles all at the same time with essential oil infusion.  The lavender before bed works it’s magic too!  I use these pretty much everyday.  I say pretty much because one tablet/steamer can last up to 3 showers.  For me it’s dependent on hair wash day – #iykyk
